It seems as though most of my posts are about food lately. Must be the pregnancy cravings. Either way, if you're planning on completing a DIY cupcake bar at your wedding, or just plain like to bake, you have to check out this online shop... Bake It Pretty. They stock everything from fancy baking supplies to pretty packaging and more!
Here are a few things on my wish list...

Hello Frosting!
The designs are printed on thin sheets of edible icing using food-grade inks, so they're safe to eat and can be totally customized. They have lots of designs to choose from, wedding related and more.
And, by collaborating with Meg over at Olliegraphic, hello frosting now offers a selection of customized decals featuring an illustration of your child. How fun would a birthday party be with cupcakes that look like the birthday girl (or boy)?

Groom's Cake

My groom didn't partake in the whole groom's cake tradition... partially because it just wasn't very popular in Michigan at that time (circa 2007). A lot of our friends and family down south say it's all the rage, and I'm seeing it more and more up here.

Cake to go
I think the rule with cake is (if you’re having one), have more than enough to feed your guests, rather than running out in the middle of your reception. While this is most definitely true, leftover cake can get old quick, so why not send home some spare pieces with your guests! I saw these adorable packages via Stephmodo, who executed the Martha Stewart template beautifully!
Near the end of the evening, station an extra server or friend at the cake table, dishing out ready-to-go slices of your wedding cake. It would make a very yummy midnight snack!

Rustic Cake Stand How-To

I saw this neat-o post on Etsy's How-Tuesday series... It's a rustic cake stand tutorial from Once Wed! I love the fact that this project is simple and economical, but I also love all the texture it brings to a regular ol' wedding cake. On that cake stand, that cake looks like a million bucks!

Birthdays + Cupcakes, like peas in a pod
Today is my 23rd birthday, and what would a birthday be without cake? My husband and I will never finish a whole cake, so instead I think we’ll indulge in some sweet confections from our local gourmet cupcake shop.
Speaking of cupcakes, I ran across the wonderfully talented Cheryl Porro — software quality engineer by day and baker for hire by night. Cheryl operates a fun little blog called Cupcake Bakeshop, where she posts unique cupcake recipes along with tantalizing photos (caution: drooling may occur).
Not only do I love Cheryl’s photos, I love the ingredients and toppings she throws together. Let’s face it, she blows Martha out of the water in the cupcake department.
If I were in San Francisco today, I would definitely request a birthday treat from Cheryl, but until then, I’ll just flip through her pictures and recipes… dreaming.

Graphic Inspired Cakes

Browsing theknot.com for wedding cakes ranks somewhere up there with buying a new pair of shoes… in my book at least! I love all of the polished and unique ideas, they really inspire me to think outside the box in my own designs on paper.
Above are a few of my favorite modern, graphic inspired cakes!

Edible Art by Le Cupcake
Australia based cupcake artist, Kylie Lambert of Le Cupcake, has an eye for frosting. I saw Kylie’s extensive portfolio on her blog and flickr site, and was in awe of her talent. I honestly don’t think I could eat on of these little treats, I would rather trap in under a glass dome and save it for eternity!
Unfortunately I won’t be in the Sydney area anytime soon, but I will be following the Le Cupcake blog for more inspiration and ideas!

K. Rose cakes

Yummy and pretty, what could be better?! I love the amount of detail in these lovelies from K. Rose cakes! Check out the little cakes preserved under glass, on her website, they are divine!

Vanilla Bake Shop

I'm sure many of you have heard of Vanilla Bake Shop, they're famous for their cupcakes, which are rumored to taste as lovely as they look! I haven't had the pleasure of dropping by the bakery myself, but even Martha is raving about them! I love the look of their website, it's simple, retro and packed with tons of photos. I spied this sunny yellow cake that I just couldn't stop drooling over.

Cake by Flours
I am in love with this sparkly cake by Flours! I'm a big fan of the little details, so the floral piping on each layer just makes me melt! Flours is based in San Francisco, and serves the Bay Area, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. Just looking at a few of their suggested wedding cake flavors makes me think this tasting session would be well worth it! I mean how can you resist Berries and Cream, or Coffee!

Colorful Cakes
Confections in all white are beautiful, no doubt, but while they look great in magazines, they don’t always translate well to neutral colored venues. If you know your venue is pretty plain, think about the other end of the spectrum (the color spectrum, that is)!
I’ve pulled some inspirational cakes that beam with color, and still come off as elegant and chic!
White cake, yellow daisy cake, pink carnation cake, swag cake, delicate dotted petals, baskets of berries.

Autumn loves chocolate
I pretty much love any kind of cake there is, but these inspiring cakes just reminded me how much I love chocolate cake!
It also reminded me that autumn is the perfect time of year to go all out and have a chocolate inspired wedding… not only is the color perfectly in season, but the flavor is rich and warming for those cooler days.
