Vancouver 2010 Winter Mascot!

I know this has nothing to do with weddings, but I had to share a chuckle with you all anyway. How funny is this little Mascot! His name is Quatchi, and he’s the sasquatch member of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. I’m so tempted to order one for my little lady, just so she can say she has a plush sasquatch.

Happy Friday!

Sage Street Market opens!

I've always been obsessed with little vintage items... you know, the ones you sprinkle around your house for a bit of character. The same ones that strike up conversations about where you found that exquisite piece of china, or print. Well I can't keep hoarding it all for myself, so I've opened up a small Etsy shop where you can have dibs on it all! Sage Street Market is being stocked up as we speak, so bear with me as list new finds.

Check back often for special sales and new items!

welcome back

I had such a nice, long weekend, and I hope all you did as well! I’m totally guilty of abandoning my computer for a good 3 days, but it doesn’t look like I missed too much!

Bear with me as I get myself situated, back into the real world! Until then, don’t forget to enter the inhabit giveaway, it’s ends tomorrow at noon!

DIY Valentines for Kids

I saw this adorable idea for a DIY valentine project on the Martha Stewart site. It's so appropriate for kids, and would probably save you some money if you tend to go for the store-bought candy valentines. Plus how fun and easy would this be for your own kids!

A little unrelated to weddings, but I had to share none the less!

Learn how here!

Refinishing round up

If any of you follow me on twitter or facebook, you've probably heard me complaining about my studio space, mainly the fact that I didn't have an adequate desk. Well the search is finally over, after months of scouring craigslist, ebay and the salvation army, I finally scored my dream desk, an original pedestal desk by the gunn furniture company of Grand Rapids, MI.

After getting it home, doing a little research, Joe and I found that the Gunn Furniture Co. closed it's doors in 1958, but not before supplying utilitarian furniture to offices, schools and libraries during the '30's through the '50's.

It's not worth much, but after we refinished it and put new drawer pulls on, it satisfied my wildest dreams (for a desk that is). I purposely left the initials "MM" that were carved into the top desk drawer, I like that it has some unknown history. And I'm still contemplating if I should patch and paint the "Lino" top, or if I should leave it as is, character and all.

So it is, I finally have an office space of my own, and let me tell you, it's glorious!

the great lakes by ORK

No, I don't live in Chicago, or Boston, or even Seattle... but now I can still enjoy an Ork poster of my area! The city neighborhood posters are now offering a print of the great lakes! Love it!

This just jumped to #1 on my Christmas list.

Stalloween class

Paper crave recently posted about the awesome papier mache pumpkins made by artist Scott Stoll, of Stalloweenhere. When I saw the post I almost jumped out of my skin, because I am actually taking a class instructed by Scott this weekend, where we will be learning how to make one of these bad boys. I am so pumped, it should be a great addition to my miniscule halloween decorations!

If you're ever in the Mid-Michigan area, definitely check out Space Studios for some fun art classes!

It starts tonight at 6pm, so I will be sure to post some pictures this weekend!

Crazy studio chairs

My husband has officially second guessed my decorating style. I brought home these bargain chairs (yes, two of them) from my local habitat for humanity store and he about died! I tried to assure them that I knew how crazy they looked, but that wasn't the point. I needed a pair of studio chairs, but I didn't want just anything. I wanted something with a little bit of graphic flare, something that you can't find at Ikea or Target.
The colors on the right are other colors that are found in my current studio, which I think integrate pretty well. I just had to share, I knew you ladies would get a kick out of them!

Bargain shopping

I love it when i find a bargain, sale or clearance. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (which can come in handy during a Michigan fall). So what better place to hit the sales than at the outlet mall! A few of my old college buddies and I hit the pavement on sunday afternoon, what a nice day for a shop!

I filled my bargain craving by picking up a pair of these babies. Now all I need is a pair of matching plaid collars for my black and silver mini schnauzers!

Save the sunglasses!

After years of wearing a cheap pair of sunglasses (probably a drugstore find), that left me with a mark across my nose everytime I wore them… I finally invested in a nice pair of Calvin Klein shades, and am happy as a clam (if clams wore sunglasses… they should)!

Now all I needed was a nice case so that they didn’t get all scratched up when I threw them in the bottomless pit also known as my handbag.

Etsy to the rescue! I found the shop of oktak and am in love with this eyeglass case that suits my funky taste.
