Macha Jewelry

I know I've been posting a lot about Etsy items lately, but I can't help it, there's just so many unique and lovely items! I saw this listing last week and have been drooling over them ever since.

I've been getting into jewelry more and more as I try to polish off my wardrobe for fall, and these beautiful accessories would be a stunning addition. Actually they would be stunning on the finger of a bride as well! If you're not really into diamonds, or are interested in something a little more unique, definitely check out this shop, here!

Shoe clips by Lemon Ring

I think just about everyone has heard of shoe clips by now. They come in a ton of shapes and sizes, but these are by far my favorite for dressing up a plain shoe for the big day. Whether you're a bridesmaid or the bride, these would be adorable to adorn your feet. Not to mention they're a steal if you purchase them from Lemon Ring on Etsy.

Visit her shop here, for more accessory ideas.

Orange & Blossom online boutique

I love Etsy just as much as any other girl, but it seems lately I just don’t have the patience to sift through the good, the bad and the ugly. Basically, Etsy has gotten so big that you can’t find the things your looking for as effortlessly.

Earlier this week I was contacted by Lisa Marie of Orange & Blossom, and she truly opened my eyes to the possibilities out there. Orange & Blossom is a highly edited shop created from a select group of artists, designers and vendors to bring you the best in wedding embellishments without all the digging.

I love the fact that the shop is updated every Thursday with new items, so you know you won’t get overwhelmed with a bunch of unrelated items. You can browse through items like jewelry, stationery, and my personal favorite—vintage items.

Check out some of the amazing items above by visiting the Vintage & Rare collection now, and keep in mind, all vintage pieces include free shipping!

Try It On tool from OPI

Most people don’t know this about me, but I love nail polish! Maybe it’s the clean lines of the glass bottles all lined up in a neat row at the salon, or that tiny brush that creeps into every corner of your nail. Whatever it may be, it’s fun and feminine!

The reason most people don’t know I like this stuff — is because I never wear it! You see, I’m the type of person who thinks only certain colors of nail polish look good on me. In my mind, I will never be able to pull off bubble gum pink, goth black, or really any shade of red. I usually stick to a nice neutral shade of skin tone pink, or a cream color.

On my wedding day, I went with those simple tones, but would have loved to experiment with something a little more interesting, if only I had this tool —  Try It On from OPI! It’s the perfect little palette to experiment with any color your little heart desires.

Above are some of my favorite shades.

Vintage Hair Accessories from Lottie Da Designs

I’m all about brides ditching the veil if they so choose, especially if it doesn’t suit their updo or gown. To keep that bride feeling though, sans veil, maybe try incorporating a smaller detail in your updo — like these lovely creations by Lottie Da Designs.

Wear one in lieu of a vail, or to spice it up for the reception!

The Lily Clutch

Love this sleek clutch I found over at The Social Seam on Etsy. Made of creamy champagne silk dupioni, this would be a lovely accessory to a gown that needs a little glitz and glamour!

Trinket findings at Ornamentea

If you're in to DIY projects and want to try your hand at jewelry or accessory making, I highly recommend checking out Ornamentea.com. This one stop shop has every little piece for making your fine craft, and much more! My favorite page is the Bits, Bobs, + Charms section, where you can find all the supplies to make those little details. The lovely ladies over at Elizabeth Anne Designs posted about their DIY Wine Glass Charms, utilizing some adorable cabochons and diamond glaze. That just goes to show you how many different projects you can come up with, using the little trinkets from Ornamentea.com. They even have those cute little memory frames that you can hook on to your bouquet!

If you're stumped as far as where to begin, check out a few project ideas here!

Switching up the accessories

I love the idea of switching up your attire after the ceremony and before the reception, but for brides on a budget, a whole new ensemble may not be a viable option. Instead, maybe opt for removing your traditional veil and replacing it with a lovely floral hair clip! You could even trade in some of your more conservative accessories for ones that will work with a night of dancing!

DIY Bride : Inspiration board contest

Going through my daily blog reads yesterday I came across this post from DIY Bride. I'm not a bride (or groom, for that matter), so I won't be entering, but I thought it was a great idea for a challenge. I put my skills and resources to the test and came up with an inspiration board that totals $387.99, well under the $500 mark. It was a fun assignment, and proved that there are some amazing ensembles out there for a lady on a budget!

The gown is actually from the bridesmaid collection of Dessy, and was found at house of brides. At the Dessy homepage you can play around with different color options, and they have many! $139.00

The Ivory birdcage fascinator is from Etsy. $38.00

The shoes are Chinese Laundry from Piperlime. $60.00

The Paris-Ruby shoe clips are from Absolutely Audrey. $30.00

The garnet circle pendant is from Top Jewelry Stores. $44.99

The Narella earings are from Etsy. $28.00

The Sephora Blockbuster makeup palette is from Sephora. $48.00

Grand Total: $387.99

Scalloped bridal shrug

A beautiful addition to any strapless gown, this scalloped lace shrug includes beaded rosettes and is delicately hand-made from high quality alencon lace. It is available in white or ivory at the Etsy shop of Emily Rohm. It’s custom made, so you know you will be getting the best fit possible, and is available without beading as well.

This would be the perfect accessory for a brisk fall wedding, no additional accessories needed!

Wedding day polish

There are a lot of ways a bride can express herself, especially in the simple details of a wedding. One of my favorite forms of personal expression is nail polish! Because this day is so special, your nails must match the occasion as well!

I love the fact that something so small can be the icing on the cake, and such a big expression of personal style. You could get away with anything from a dazzling red to a perfect pink, and you better believe people will be noticing. You’ll be showing off more than your new wedding band, so make sure your digits are dazzling with these shades from OPI.

Listed above from left to right: That’s Hot! Pink, Kiss on the Chic, Black Cherry Chutney, Tickle Me France-y, Chocolate Shake-speare, An Affair in Red Square.

One-of-a-kind bridal bag

About 5 years ago, my grandmother decided that her wedding gown, which had been in her closet for almost 5 decades, needed a new purpose in life. She secretly had 5 small handbags made for each of her 5 grand daughters made with the satin and lace of her gown. I received mine at a time when I was not thinking about a wedding at all, but it made that future time in my life that much more exciting!

When it came time for me to tie the knot, I carefully placed a select few items into my bag, things that carried as many memories as that very bag. A pipe from my grandfather (it still smelled just like I remembered him) paired with a tiny bottle of old southern comfort, cinnamon gum (in remembrance of my other grandfather), and a vintage handkerchief, also given to me by my grandmother. There was still enough room to throw in some makeup items for touchups later on in the night.

Personal or not, bags like this are essential to a bride on her big day. Check out the bottom row of bags on etsy for inspiration!

Left to right: peacock clutch, gold pleated clutch, aubergine honesty clutch.

Save the sunglasses!

After years of wearing a cheap pair of sunglasses (probably a drugstore find), that left me with a mark across my nose everytime I wore them… I finally invested in a nice pair of Calvin Klein shades, and am happy as a clam (if clams wore sunglasses… they should)!

Now all I needed was a nice case so that they didn’t get all scratched up when I threw them in the bottomless pit also known as my handbag.

Etsy to the rescue! I found the shop of oktak and am in love with this eyeglass case that suits my funky taste.

Two-for-one friday

It’s Friday and I’m still in the “wedding hair” mood, ah!! So instead of obsessing about it for the rest of the evening, I’m just going to write another post about it and get it out of my system. TGIF!

As opposed to my earlier hair accessory post, the hair pin above is a bit flashier and appropriate for a more trendy wedding—maybe something with a bird theme? It appears pretty versatile, meaning it can be worn with an up do or with your hair down and dainty. Photo by Lisa Lefkowitz.

I love it, and it’s colorful siblings which can be found on the k. autumn website. She also does some custom pieces, so inquire within for more details.

Recycled poppy bobbypin

Made of repurposed vintage fabric, these silky poppies would be perfect as an accessory to a glam hair-do. They come from the Etsy shop of foundling, and cost about $6.00 per bobbypin. This would be a great “something old” to add to your wedding, and a great opportunity to give that vintage fabric a new life! I would like to see a cluster of these tucked into a French twist or something like that. They are a great alternative to having one huge flower in your hair, since they are small in size.

The photo on the left is from the foundling shop, and the photo on the right is a sample of a hairstyle which would work well with this type of accessory (just picture that huge flower replaced by a handful of cute poppies). Photo by Tim Geaney.

A splash of red tucked into your wedding day do is creative and unique, so play with those splashes of color!
